Natural Resources Conservation Service: Plan to Reduce Missouri River Flooding Moves Forward

WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced it will prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) for a proposal to prevent or lessen flooding along a stretch of the Black River in Butler County, Missouri.

The targeted area runs south from Poplar Bluff to the state line with Arkansas. Flooding has repeatedly damaged homes, farms and infrastructure, causing interruptions to agriculture and transportation.
