New York Education Leaders Reaffirm Inclusive Curricula After Supreme Court Ruling

LATHAM, New York, Aug. 6 -- A coalition of New York's top education organizations has expressed disappointment in the recent Supreme Court decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor, which supported parents' rights to opt their children out of reading school-approved books with LGBTQ+ characters on religious grounds. The groups affirmed that the ruling will not change New York State's commitment to local curriculum control and inclusive learning environments.
