WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 (TNSFR) -- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final determination that the Shinnecock Indian Nation area in New York has failed to meet the 2015 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by the August 3, 2024, attainment date. This failure will result in the area being reclassified by law as a "Serious" nonattainment area for ozone. The new classification is effective on September 2, 2025.
