BLM to Facilitate Return of Ancestral Remains to Gila River Indian Community

WASHINGTON, July 29 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management Arizona State Office intends to facilitate the disposition of native American human remains and cultural items discovered in Pinal County, Arizona, to the Gila River Indian Community.

The discovery, reported in late 2023, includes fragments of cremated bone, believed to be from one individual, along with 29 brownware pottery sherds and two basalt flakes. These items were found within a Hohok . . .
