WASHINGTON, July 19 -- The New York State Public Service Commission, Albany, has approved a request from National Grid, Syracuse, New York, to use steel structures to replace failing wood poles along a 45-mile transmission line spanning parts of four upstate counties. The decision, issued July 18, 2025, amends a 1986 certificate that originally required the use of wood poles for the line.
