WASHINGTON, July 9 -- The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, New York, issued the following statement on July 4, 2025, by Bill O'Neill, a U.N. expert on human rights in Haiti, asserting that no one should be returned to Haiti due to the catastrophic human rights situation. O'Neill stated that the country is currently more dangerous than when people fled, citing dramatic levels of kidnappings, killings, sexual violence and other human rights violations.
