WASHINGTON, June 22 -- New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued Emergency Executive Order 824 extending the city's state of emergency for another thirty days in response to the ongoing arrival of asylum seekers from the southern U.S. border.
Adams cited the continued strain on the Department of Homeless Services shelter system, which is serving tens of thousands of people amid what he described as an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
