Rep. Davis Criticizes Republican Spending Bill

WASHINGTON, June 12 -- On June 11, 2025, Rep. Danny K. Davis, D-Davis, criticized the "Republican One Big Beautiful bill" during a House Ways and Means Committee hearing with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Rep. Davis called the legislation "cruel, draconian, inhumane," arguing that it would worsen conditions for the poor, sick, and hungry. He stated that the bill would strip healthcare from 16 million Americans, including hundreds of thousands in Illinois.
