WASHINGTON, June 7 -- Federal Reserve Governor Adriana D. Kugler, speaking at the Economic Club of New York on June 5, 2025, warned that increased import tariffs and other policy changes could significantly impact the U.S. economy.
While the labor market remains resilient, Kugler stated that such policies, particularly higher tariffs, risk raising the unemployment rate and pushing inflation above the Federal Open Market Committee's 2% target.
