WASHINGTON, May 21 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced the filing of a petition by Exxon Mobil Corporation to add tridecyl alcohol to the list of taxable substances under the Superfund tax.
Exxon Mobil, an exporter of the substance, argues that tridecyl alcohol meets the criteria for inclusion, stating that 75.9 percent of its composition by weight consists of taxable chemicals used in its production.
