Global Rice Production Hits Record High in 2024/25; U.S. Plantings Expected to Decline

WASHINGTON, May 20 (TNSLrpt) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Economic Research Service (ERS) released its "Rice Outlook: April 2025" (RCS-25C) report today, announcing a record-high global rice production forecast for 2024/25, driven largely by increased output in India. Domestically, U.S. rice growers anticipate a slight decrease in planted acreage for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
