WASHINGTON, May 16 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service has announced that Exxon Mobil Corporation has filed a petition requesting that isooctyl alcohol be added to the list of taxable chemical substances subject to the Superfund excise tax.
The petition, submitted on May 1, 2025, proposes the inclusion of isooctyl alcohol, a branched alcohol commonly used in surfactants, based on its chemical composition and production process.
