Maine PUC Grants Pole Attachment License to Penobscot Indian Nation

AUGUSTA, Maine, May 16 -- The Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) has approved a request from the Penobscot Indian Nation for a Pole Attachment License, paving the way for the Nation to utilize utility poles for its infrastructure needs. The decision, issued on May 15, 2025, by the Director of Telephone and Water Utility Industries on behalf of the Commission, grants the Nation the authority to attach equipment to existing joint-use utility poles within Maine.
