WASHINGTON, May 16 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has issued a proposed rule to rescind existing energy conservation standards for compact residential clothes washers. The proposal, published in the Federal Register on May 16, 2025, aims to eliminate the efficiency requirements currently applied to compact washers defined as those with a capacity under 1.6 cubic feet.
