WASHINGTON, May 9 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration has announced a notice of petition from the Association of American Railroads (AAR) requesting a waiver of compliance with certain provisions of the Federal railroad safety regulations. The petition, filed on behalf of AAR's members, seeks relief from the visual track inspection requirements set forth in 49 CFR part 213, which outlines the standards for track safety.
