N.C. Utilities Commission: Black Walnut Solar in Jones County to Add Battery Storage to Approved Project

RALEIGH, North Carolina, May 8 -- Black Walnut Solar, LLC, has informed the North Carolina Utilities Commission of a planned addition to its previously approved 80 MW solar photovoltaic generating facility in Jones County. According to a filing made on March 6, 2025, the project will now include a potential 32 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) within its original footprint.
