DOE Finalizes Withdrawal of Coverage for Miscellaneous Gas Products Under Energy Conservation Program

WASHINGTON, May 7 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has issued a final rule withdrawing its previous determination that miscellaneous gas products (MGPs)--including decorative hearths and outdoor heaters--qualify as covered consumer products under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA). The decision formally removes these products from consideration for future federal energy conservation standards under 10 CFR Part 430.
