University of Tennessee and Kansas State Historical Society to Repatriate Remains to Kaw and Pawnee Nations

WASHINGTON, May 2 (TNSFR) -- The University of Tennessee Department of Anthropology in Knoxville and the Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka have completed a joint inventory confirming the cultural affiliation of human remains and funerary objects with the Kaw Nation, Oklahoma and the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma.

The remains, representing at least two individuals, were removed from the Kansas Monument site (14RP1) located in Republic County, Kansas, a known historic Pawnee villa . . .
