University of Tennessee to Repatriate Human Remains to Kaw and Pawnee Nations

WASHINGTON, April 18 (TNSFR) -- The University of Tennessee, Department of Anthropology (UTK), has completed an inventory of human remains and confirmed cultural affiliation with the Kaw Nation and the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. These remains, representing at least 16 individuals, were recovered from various archaeological sites in Clay and Geary counties, Kansas, and were likely transferred to UTK by William Bass in 1971.
