WASHINGTON, April 15 -- Resources for the Future (RFF) issued a working paper (No. 25-05) titled "Where Does the Marginal Methane Molecule Come From? Implications of LNG Exports for US Natural Gas Supply and Methane Emissions" in March 2025. Authored by Brian C. Prest, the paper models the impact of increased U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) export demand on domestic oil and gas prices, marginal supply by region, and the associated methane emissions.
