RALEIGH, North Carolina, Jan. 16 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina issued the following news release:
A Nashville man was sentenced to 48 months in prison, and three years of supervised release, for orchestrating a scheme to fraudulently obtain emergency rental assistance designated for households affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On August 12, 2024, Joe Lewis Jefferson, age 50, pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud . . .
