ANN ARBOR, Michigan, Jan. 10 -- The University of Michigan issued the following news:

Some carbon-based solar cells already show no drop in performance after three years' worth of radiation, and the cause of degradation in others could be preventable

A simulation shows how deeply protons with higher energies of 100 kiloelectron-volt (keV) penetrate the solar cell. Solar wind protons can be accelerated to higher energies as they cross parts of the Earth's magne . . .
