WASHINGTON, Nov. 7 -- The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy issued the following news:

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Electricity (OE) and Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) today announced selections for four groundbreaking high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission research and development projects that will help affordably integrate more renewable energy generation onto the grid via HVDC lines. . . .
