WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 -- Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, issued the following news release:

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) called on the Federal Reserve (Fed) to cut the federal funds rate, currently at a two decade-high of 5.3 percent, by 75 basis points (.75%; each basis point is one hundredth of a percent) at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting that begins tomorrow.
