Tillis Bill to Reduce Rape Kit Backlog to be Signed Into Law

WASHINGTON, July 16 -- Sen. Thom Tillis, R-North Carolina, issued the following news release:

The U.S. Senate recently passed the Debbie Smith Act, legislation that would provide state and local law enforcement agencies with resources to complete forensic analyses of crime scenes and untested rape kits. The legislation now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

"Victims of these heinous crimes deserve justice and Congress should do everything we can . . .
