WASHINGTON, July 10 -- Rep. Timothy Burchett, R-Tennessee, issued the following news release:
Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) voted in favor of H.R. 8281, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
The bill would require individuals to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections and provide states with access to existing federal databases so they can better clean up their voter rolls and remove noncitizens.
