BLACKSBURG, Virginia, July 3 -- Virginia Tech issued the following news:
Roger Heath was hired in 1974 to create a new band at Virginia Tech, an all-university band. The Marching Virginians, only 10 days old and made up of nearly 100 mostly first-year students, debuted on Sept. 28 that year.
Fred Gibson '78 was among those first members and has enjoyed watching the Marching Virginians (MVs) -- "The Spirit of Tech" -- grow into the "330 Strong" band i . . .
