FRESNO, California, May 16 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California issued the following news release on May 15, 2024:
Jaswinder Bhangoo, 51, of Bakersfield, was sentenced today to 18 months in prison for stealing $163,750 in COVID-19 relief money, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
According to court documents, between May 2020 and November 2021, Bhangoo applied for over $250,000 in COVID-19 relief loans from the U.S. Small Bus . . .
