SACRAMENTO, California, May 8 -- Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-California, issued the following news release on May 7, 2024:
In recognition of National Fentanyl Awareness Day, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the California National Guard's Counterdrug Task Force assisted in the seizure of an estimated 7,100 pounds of fentanyl and more than 3.4 million fentanyl pills statewide since the start of the year, including at ports of entry and along the border.
