AUSTIN, Texas, March 7 -- The Texas Department of Transportation issued the following news on March 6, 2024:
The two oldest divisions of TxDOT recently turned 100 years old, celebrating a rich history that began with wooden bridges and dirt roads and now includes high-speed highways and autonomous vehicles.
The Texas Highway Department--as TxDOT was called in the early days--created the Maintenance Division in 1923 to handle the upkeep of Texas roads.
