WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 -- The Sierra Club issued the following news release:
The Sierra Club has joined a global group of 67 organizations led by BankTrack and Reclaim Finance in calling on 50 of the world's largest banks to end all financial support for new metallurgical coal production and expansion. Metallurgical coal represents 14% of the world's coal. Unlike thermal coal, it is predominately used for steelmaking and is refined into coke, a material combined with iron ore . . .
