The exercise room at Independence Square on the University of Rhode Island's Kingston campus buzzed with chatter about Thanksgiving plans, enlivened with the usual small talk and laughter.
The lightness of the session might have fooled some into thinking that this was just an ordinary exercise class, not part of a battle against a debilitating, incurable disease.
