FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 24 -- The Southland Conference issued the following news on Oct. 23, 2023:
University of the Incarnate Word quarterback Richard Torres was named the FedEx Ground FCS National Freshman Player of the Week following a second-half surge over McNeese State University on Saturday to come back and defeat the Cowboys 35-24.
