NEW YORK, Oct. 17 -- The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation issued the following news release on Oct. 16, 2023:
New York City Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue opened the North Park section of Freshkills Park on Staten Island -- the first section inside the former Fresh Kills Landfill site to open to the public -- on October 15. Once fully developed, Freshkills Park will be the second-largest park in the five boroughs and serve as an enduring sym . . .
