University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute: Why Grid Reliability Relies on Improving Electricity Capacity Markets

CHICAGO, Illinois, Sept. 23 (TNSres) -- The University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute issued the following news:

Electricity capacity markets are designed to make sure that there is enough electricity when needed, though recent winter storms have highlighted their vulnerability to extreme weather events. A new study finds updating regulations to include accurate accreditation, performance bonds and credit risk could be the answer to establishing reliability.
