WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 -- Rep. Chris Smith, R-New Jersey, issued the following remarks on Sept. 11, 2023:

Twenty-two years later we remember the horror and pain suffered by the nearly 3,000 individuals who were murdered and the anguish felt by their families and friends both then and now.
We remember and honor the courageous first responders running up the stairs of the burning buildings--with total disregard for their own safety--attempting to save oth . . .
