SALEM, Oregon, June 21 -- The Oregon State Legislature issued the following news release on June 20, 2023:

Today, the Senate passed Senate Bill 556, which prohibits the Oregon Department of Human Services from taking the assets that rightfully belong to children and youth in foster care, unless required by federal law. Instead, these funds will be set aside in a designated fund established by the State Treasury to be used for expenses like sports, music lessons, tutoring, uniforms, . . .
