In 2021, a record-shattering 107,000 people died from overdose in the United States, including 2,375 opioid overdoses in Michigan. One contributing factor has been weak protocols for overdose response in hospital emergency rooms, where people may end up after a nonfatal overdose, leaving patients without follow up and access to the most effective overdose preven . . .
