WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 -- The Senate Indian Affairs Committee issued the following testimony by Pueblo of Laguna Gov. Martin Kowemy Jr., involving a hearing on Nov. 16, 2022, on water rights claims legislation:

My name is Martin Kowemy, Jr. and I am the Governor of the Pueblo of Laguna. The traditional name of the Laguna people is Kawaika, meaning lake people.
