WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 -- The National Republican Congressional Committee issued the following news:
New England is at risk for winter blackouts "as a surge in natural-gas demand abroad threatens to reduce supplies [power producers] need to generate electricity."
Severe cold spells in the Northeast could reduce the amount of gas available to generate electricity as more of it is burned to heat homes.
