CARSON CITY, Nevada, June 15 -- Gov. Stephen Sisolak, D-Nevada, issued the following news release:
Governor Steve Sisolak proclaimed June 19, 2022, as Juneteenth National Freedom Day in Nevada to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth is the nationally recognized observance of the final freeing of enslaved people on June 19, 1865 - almost two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
