ST. PAUL, Minnesota, May 26 -- Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minnesota, issued the following proclamation:
WHEREAS George Floyd was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on October 14, 1973, later moved to Texas, and as an adult made Minnesota his home; and
WHEREAS: On May 25, 2020, two years ago, George Floyd was murdered by former police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis, Minnesota--an event that was captured on video by community members; and
