ST. PAUL, Minnesota, March 11 -- Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minnesota, issued the following proclamation:
WHEREAS: Araminta "Harriet Tubman" Ross was born in March 1822 in Dorchester County, Maryland on the plantation where her parents were enslaved; and
WHEREAS: After escaping from slavery herself in 1849, Harriet Tubman led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad. She became known as the "Moses of her People" through her socia . . .
