TOPEKA, Kansas, Jan. 25 -- The Kansas Democratic Party issued the following news release:
Last week, Senate Republicans in the Kansas legislature passed a heavily gerrymandered map that will dilute minority voting strength and separate communities of interest. Despite hundreds of testimonies pleading with legislators to keep Johnson and Wyandotte counties intact, Republicans broke apart the closely-tied communities, and even moved Lawrence into Kansas' "Big First."
