Congressman G. K. Butterfield (D-NC-01) issued the following statement after his bill, H.R. 2758, the Lumbee Recognition Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 357-59 with one member voting present.
"The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina has waited for far too long to receive the full federal recognition it has long deser . . .
