WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 -- Sen. Richard Burr, R-North Carolina, ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, issued the following statement on Oct. 7, 2021, opposing the Senate's motion to discharge from the committee the nomination of Catherine Lhamon, ex-chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, to serve as Assistant Secretary for the Office for Civil Rights at the Education Department:
