ST. PAUL, Minnesota, Oct. 6 -- Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minnesota, issued the following proclamation:
WHEREAS: The first arrival of German immigrants to America took place on October 6, 1683, and over 300 years later in 1987, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating October 6 as German-American Day; and
WHEREAS: According to the U.S. Census, 38 percent of Minnesotans are of German descent, making Germans the largest ethnic ancestry group in the state. Minnesota . . .
