LANSING, Michigan, Aug. 18 -- Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, D-Michigan, issued the following statement:

Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued the following statement after the release of Michigan's latest jobs and unemployment numbers. The state's unemployment rate in July was down to 4.8%, well below the national average of 5.4%. Michigan added 31,000 non-farm jobs in July, with the largest increase coming from the leisure and hospitality sector.
