AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 13 -- The Texas Democratic Party issued the following statement:

Republican anti-voter legislation, Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), passed out of the Texas Senate this morning, shortly after Sen. Carol Alvarado (D-Houston) stood strong for voting rights and filibustered against it for 15 hours. SB 1 now heads to the House, which still does not have a quorum to be able to pass the legislation.
