ROANOKE, Virginia, April 22 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's U.S. Forest Service unit - George Washington and Jefferson National Forests - issued the following news release:
Shelters along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia are now available for use. Hikers are encouraged to bring their own personal tent and face coverings. These shelters were shut down, along with trailheads, earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic.
